Local Suspects Among Those Charged In Provincial Child Porn Blitz
Twenty-Six Police Agencies Lay Over 500 Charges
Several local men were among the over one hundred charged in a crackdown on child pornography.
Suspects from Barrie, Innisfil, Orillia, Adjala-Tosorontio, Newmarket, Keswick, Bradford, and Huntsville were among the 122 people facing Child Porn related charged in a one-month police crackdown. Over 500 charges laid, with 26 police agencies involved.
“Perpetrators of online sexual exploitation often minimize their actions by saying they were ‘just looking.'” says Staff Sergeant Sharon Hanlon, Coordinator of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, “Let me be clear: Anyone who possesses, distributes, accesses or otherwise supports the supply and demand chain for child sexual abuse images are complicit in the sexual exploitation of children.”
In addition to the substantial amount of charges laid, police were able to identify 55 victims and insured they were looked after.
