ManpowerGroup anticipates modest hiring climate in first quarter of 2021

ManpowerGroup has been asking around and found nine percent of Barrie employers are planning to hire in the upcoming quarter; 26 percent are anticipating cutbacks.
“Another 57% of employers plan to maintain their current staffing levels, while the remaining 8% of employers are unsure of their hiring intentions in the upcoming quarter,” said Jennifer Scale of Manpower’s Barrie office.
“With seasonal variations removed from the data, Barrie’s first quarter Net Employment Outlook of 0% is a six-percentage point decrease from the Outlook reported during the same time last year,” said Scale. “This indicates a slow hiring pace for the upcoming months.

Positive Development

“With the uncertainty surrounding the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, a moderate hiring Outlook for employers in the first quarter of 2021 can be seen as a positive development,” said Darlene Minatel, Country Manager of ManpowerGroup Canada. “With nine of the ten industry sectors expecting to add workers in the upcoming quarter, there will be opportunities for job seekers.”
