Families looking for free ways to keep kids busy during March Break will find plenty to choose from at the Barrie Public Library. From interactive shows to creative workshops and hands-on tech experiences, the library is turning the school break into a week of discovery for kids, tweens, and teens.
Running March 14 to 22 across all three library locations, the programming is designed to give families flexible options, whether they want to drop in for a single activity or build a full week of outings.

Big Events Kids Won’t Want to Miss
This year’s lineup includes several headline events designed to spark curiosity and imagination.
Families can test their problem-solving skills in themed library escape rooms inspired by popular characters, while animal lovers can get an up-close look at live birds during a special presentation from The Eyrie Birds of Prey Centre.
Entertainment is also a big focus, with:
- A live magic show
- Interactive music performances
- Caricature portraits.
Creativity Takes Centre Stage
For kids who love making things, March Break also brings plenty of opportunities to get creative. Programs range from art workshops and comic creation sessions to drama activities that introduce theatre games and mask painting.
The library’s creative spaces will also be open for exploration, giving young visitors a chance to experiment with art and design tools they may not have access to at home.
Games, Tech, and Friendly Competition
Technology and gaming also play a role in this year’s schedule. A LEGO robotics showcase will introduce families to interactive robotics, while activities like life-sized games and Dungeons and Dragons meetups offer social ways for kids to connect over shared interests.
Fans of video games and pop culture can also look forward to themed events featuring familiar characters and friendly competitions.
Quieter Ways to Spend the Break
Not every March Break activity needs to be high energy. The library is also offering lower-key options for families looking for a calmer pace, including mindfulness storytimes, board games, puzzles, movie screenings, and even indoor mini golf.
These quieter programs give families a chance to relax while still staying engaged during the break.
Planning Your Visit
Programs will take place at all Barrie Public Library locations, with some activities requiring free tickets or advance registration. Families are encouraged to check schedules ahead of time to avoid missing popular events.
With a mix of entertainment, learning, and creativity, the library’s March Break programming offers a reminder that some of the best family activities don’t require a big budget ... just a little planning.
Full program details and schedules are available through the Barrie Public Library website.
