Matthews House Hospice Foundation's annual Hike for Hospice was its most successful yet, breaking records for fundraising and participation.

The event happened earlier this month at Mardon Stables to kick off National Hospice Palliative Care Week and featured three different hike options.

Two records were broken by the MHHF at the event, including welcoming over 750 participants and raising over $294,000.

"It was outstanding to see over 750 community members come together to enjoy a beautiful day in support of our hospice programs," said MHH CEO Margaret Bachle. "We are so fortunate."

Bachle also sent out a heartfelt thank you to all the participants, sponsors, and hosts.

A barbecue lunch, kid’s activities, education by the Adjala-Tosorontio Fire Department, live music, and farm animals highlighted the family-friendly event. All funds raised directly support Matthews House's residential & community hospice programs and services. The organization requires $2 million in fundraising to continue serving its South Simcoe community.

Matthews House Hospice has over 55 community programs and 10 residential hospice beds. The organization provides compassionate hospice care and programs to people facing life-threatening illness, their caregivers, and those grieving a loss.
