Matthews House Marks One Year Anniversary With Funding Announcement

County Announces Latest Batch of Hospice Funding Recipients

Matthews House Hospice in Alliston marked its first birthday with a solid gift from the county.

Officials were on hand for the birthday party at the Alliston facility Thursday to announce who gets what out of this year’s County of Simcoe hospice funding.

Matthews House will get 58 grand out of the $500,000 annual commitment, so will Hospice Georgina Triangle in Collingwood. Huroinia Hospice in Penetanguishene will receive $182,000, while Maripose Hospice in Orillia gets 200 grand.

“Our County Council is honoured to provide these important additional funds to residential hospice services in Simcoe County.” said County Warden George Cornell. “We recognize the demand for palliative care services is growing, and our funding of the Simcoe County Hospice Alliance will help ensure that our most vulnerable residents continue to have access to vital high-quality end-of-life care.”

This all part of a three year 1.5 million dollar commitment from the county.
