Mayor announces Economic Support Task Force and Social Support Task Force to deal with impacts of COVID-19 in Barrie
A number of initiatives have been discussed
Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman has launched an Economic Support Task Force and a Social Support Task Force – to deal with the impacts of COVID-19 in Barrie.
The Social Support Task Force includes representatives from the shelter system, social services, charities and other organizations that help vulnerable populations.
The Economic Support Task Force includes industry and business organizations across the city to help businesses mitigate the impacts of COVID-19, shift business online and protect jobs.
Lehman says a number of initiatives have been discussed and are being followed up.
Barrie Food Bank bracing for higher demand as COVID-19 impacts workplaces
The mayor has also encouraged bars, restaurants and other tourist-related enterprises that have shutdown to consider the Barrie Food Bank when deciding what to do with food and other items that will otherwise go to waste. Snow Valley Resort dropped off some items Tuesday.
Important message for #Barrie restaurants, ski resorts, etc. with food they now need to get rid of: the @BarrieFoodBank can use your donation! Please contact the Food Bank directly, they can help with pickup and/or delivery.
