Midland beaches reopen Wednesday; cooling station to be available Thursday

Beaches' public washrooms to reopen Saturday

With COVID-19 health and safety top-of-mind, Midland has reopened some hot spots and a cooling station in town.

As of Wednesday, beaches at Little Lake Park, Pete Pettersen Park, and Gawley Park are open to the public. Public washroom facilities are open and available daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at all three beaches and at Midland Harbour starting Saturday.

“In order to provide residents with access to washroom facilities, proper cleaning protocols and equipment were needed to be in place first,” said Andy Campbell, Executive Director of Environment & Infrastructure. “Staff have been redeployed from other Town departments and trained on how to use the cleaning equipment so that not only are they safe while working, but residents are too when using the facilities.”

Meanwhile, the Town is making available a cooling station at the Town Dock, with a drinking water trailer, as of Thursday. A tent will be in place by Saturday to provide some shade during hot weather.
