Midland cops cuff suspect less than three hours after convenience store robbery was reported
Police arrest man over one robbery and say there were connections to a second
A Midland man is waiting for his day in court after a convenience store robbery on New Year’s Day.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers were called out to a Yonge Street market around 8 p.m. January 1 with reports of a hold-up. The store clerk told police they’d been threatened by a man who made off with the contents of the register.
Store security footage combined with a canvas of the neighbourhood led police to identify a suspect. A 27-year-old man was taken into custody less than three hours after the crime was reported. He faces a charge of armed robbery and possession of stolen property.
Police add they were able to connect their suspect to a second robbery reported later that same evening, with a charge of theft under $5,000 added to the tally.
