As Mother’s Day approaches, one local business is shifting its focus from moving boxes to moving hearts.
Two Men and a Truck, known for helping people relocate, is running its “Movers for Moms” campaign—a charitable initiative aimed at bringing a little extra joy to women staying at Barrie’s Women and Children’s Shelter.
“Giving back is one of the core values of Two Men and a Truck,” said Dan Arlow, Marketing Director for the moving company. “That’s the big reason why we got involved with this campaign. It really shows the big impact we can make—and that we are the Movers Who Care.”
The campaign, which kicked off April 1, is collecting everyday essentials and small treats to be delivered in time for Mother’s Day. Donations will be accepted until May 1, with the team picking up boxes the following day to ensure timely delivery.
Items in high demand include:
- New toiletries
- Linens
- Paper products (toilet paper, tissues)
- Journals and adult coloring books
- Chocolates and snacks—often overlooked, but very appreciated
“There’s a lot of things that everybody takes for granted but are really necessary,” Dan explained. “Even small comforts like chocolates or a journal can make a big difference.”
Donations can be dropped off at several community partner locations across Barrie, including:
- Envy Hair Studio
- Connect Hair Studio
- Paul Sadlon Motors
- RONA on Mapleview
- Sweet Works
- Shoppers Drug Mart at 649 Yonge St. and 1145 Innisfil Beach Rd.
- Fortitude Dance Centre
Boxes are set up at the front of each business, making it easy for residents to stop by, say hello, and contribute.
The collected items will be sorted and delivered to the shelter just before Mother’s Day—ensuring the women there feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
Whether it’s a journal, a box of tissues, or a sweet treat, each donation is a small reminder to these moms that the community cares.
