Coming off the successful series finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a new series titled The Bad Batch will premier on Disney's streaming service sometime in 2021.
The Bad Batch follows a squad of soldiers who are genetically different from their clone army counterparts. With each one possessing a singular, exceptional skill, they will have to adapt and find new purpose in a post-Clone War galaxy.
“Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honour at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series,” said Agnes Chu, senior vice president, Content, Disney+. “While The Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”
While Star Wars fans may have been a little underwhelmed with the recent films, with such a massive story and extended universe, Star Wars seems to have found its footing in the long format of the small screen. Shows like The original Clone Wars and The Mandalorian are both critically acclaimed and have paved the way for more fantastic Star Wars television that is sure to come.
