New COVID-19 cases creep above 100 on Saturday

Hospitalizations are going in the right direction

There were 106 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the province on Saturday, 14 more than Friday’s tally. This is the first time new infections have topped 100 in four days.

Ontario-wide, 27 of the province’s 34 public health units reported five or fewer cases, with 18 of them reporting no new cases.

The majority of new cases are in people between the ages of 20 and 39.

The number of lab-confirmed infections in Ontario is 40,565 and there have been 36,87 recoveries.

There were more than 30,000 tests processed in the past 24 hours.

One more person died from the virus, which has pushed the provincial death toll to 2,789.

The province said hospitalizations continue to decline.
