No new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe or Muskoka on Tuesday

Region's caseload actually went down by one after a duplicate was discovered

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit announced there were no new cases of COVID-19 to add to its caseload on Tuesday.

In fact, the region’s case count actually went down by one. The health unit indicated one of its cases was a duplicate, meaning the local caseload sat at 599 as of Tuesday afternoon.

Today’s count of zero new cases comes despite a bump in testing across the region. “We’ve had a really substantial dramatic increase in the amount of testing,” said SMDHU Medical Officer of Health Dr. Charles Gardner.

In its daily update, the health unit also reported twelve people who have recovered from COVID-19 since Monday’s count. There remain just four people who require treatment in hospital in the region.
