No other positive COVID-19 cases at Simcoe Manor long-term care home

Resident who tested positive remains in hospital

Extensive rapid COVID-19 testing at Simcoe Manor has found no additional cases of the virus, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

An outbreak at the Beeton long-term care home was declared earlier this month when a resident, a man in his 70s, tested positive for COVID-19. He remains in hospital and his health is improving.

All 126 residents and about 200 staff members were tested for the virus.

How the man became infected is unknown.

Simcoe Manor is operated by the County of Simcoe.

The facility will remain in outbreak status until further notice from the health unit.
