One person’s junk is another person’s treasure
Saturday is 'New To Me' Day in Barrie
No need for a garage sale and all the preparation to get rid of the ‘junk’ you don’t want anymore.
Tomorrow (June 8) is New To Me Day in Barrie (formerly called Free Goods Exchange Day).
“New to Me Day gives residents the opportunity to reuse unwanted items, while also picking up something they may want or need for free,” says Sandra Brunet, Manager of Environmental Operations, Environmental Services Department. “It’s also a great way to keep good quality, reusable items out of the landfill.”
Here’s how it works:
- On the morning of June 8, put your items at the curb
- Add the New to Me Day poster to show that your items are free to take and/or share your items on the City’s Facebook event page starting June 7
- Look for free treasures, curbside around your neighbourhood
- Share your finds using #NewToMe on social media
Anything that hasn’t been snatched up needs to be taken back in after 9 pm.
