Provincial police launched an investigation last month after receiving reports of an online gambling operation within Orillia high schools.

Investigators were told individuals were offered the opportunity to take part in the operation by signing up on a website. Once becoming an active member of the "Topbets" website, police say individuals were able to place sports bets and play casino-based games.

"It was brought to police attention by students that they were being threatened due to outstanding debts owed," OPP stated in a news release on Saturday.

Investigators believe there may be more victims and are seeking to speak to anyone who can assist in the investigation. If you wish to speak to an investigator in regards to this please contact the Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or via the Provincial Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122.
