OPP charge Collingwood man with impaired driving after pedestrian struck

Police say the driver had open liquor in the vehicle

A 44-year-old Collingwood man is facing several charges including impaired driving after a pedestrian was clipped by a vehicle while walking in the Town of the Blue Mountains.

OPP say the individual contacted them around 5 p.m on Monday to report they were struck by the side mirror of a pickup truck while walking on the 12th Side Road near Grey Road 19.

The pedestrian was not injured.

Police located the pickup truck on another street and the motorist was pulled over.

Besides the impaired driving charge, the motorist was also charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

The accused has a court date in Collingwood on Feb. 1, 2022.
