OPP continue investigation into wrong-way driver on Highway 400

Police say as the driver proceeded north, it struck a southbound vehicle head-on

Huronia West OPP say an investigation continues regarding a vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 400 south of Horseshoe Valley Road in Springwater Township.

On Tuesday, just after 7:00 p.m., police say they received several calls from motorists reporting the vehicle driving in the wrong lane.

Huronia West and Orillia OPP responded, and attempted to locate the vehicle. Police say as the vehicle proceeded northbound, it struck a southbound vehicle head-on. 

OPP noted that upon speaking with the wrong-way driver, the situation became a drinking and driving investigation. 

Police say the driver was arrested and transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. 

There is no word from police if the driver has been charged.
