OPP Investigate Collision Involving Fire Truck
No one hurt, no charges laid
A fire truck, responding to a call with its emergency lights on, was involved in a collision this morning on Highway 12 and Memorial Avenue in Orillia.
OPP say the fire truck had stopped at a red light around 8:15 am then proceeded through the intersection when the driver felt it was safe.
It was then an SUV, proceeded through the green light striking the fire truck and then a telephone pole.
There were no injuries and police say no charges will be laid.
OPP remind motorists that it is their duty to be aware of emergency vehicles on the roads. An emergency vehicle with its lights and sirens on can go through a red light provided it comes to a complete stop and is safe to proceed.
