OPP lay charges in weapon incident involving landlord and tenant in Oro-Medonte

Police say they have arrested an Oro-Medonte man after he allegedly brandished a machete.

On Saturday around 9:42 p.m., Orillia OPP were called to a residence on Penetanguishene Road in Oro-Medonte regarding an incident involving a landlord and his tenant.

"A male tenant left his unit and brandished a machete at another male party," OPP said in a release Sunday.

A 41-year-old was taken into custody and has been charged with:

  • Adult Possession of a Weapon Dangerous Purpose

He was held pending a bail hearing.

OPP say this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
