UPDATE: OPP make arrest following fire investigation at an Orillia apartment

Fire Chief credits quick work by firefighters and early detection by occupants

Orillia fire crews took no time to douse flames in a ground-level apartment at 18 Peter Street N., while the OPP took little time in making an arrest in connection to it.

There are over two dozen units at St. James Court and everyone evacuated without incident around 8:00 Monday evening, while Fire Chief Brent Thomas says the flames were contained to a single room.

An arson investigation resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old suspect who now faces a charge of endangering human life.

Damage is pegged at $15,000.
