Passenger charged following Orillia traffic stop

Police pulled over vehicle with potentially dangerous defect

A traffic stop in Orillia resulted in cocaine possession charges laid, and more.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday morning, officers were patrolling Matchedash Street when they say a vehicle with a potentially dangerous defect was spotted. Police pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver. However, officers recognized the passenger. After running his name through the crime computer, police say it was learned he was wanted by a neighbouring police detachment.

During the 32-year-old man’s arrest, police say they found cocaine on him. In combination with the charges the neighbouring police will lay, the suspect also faces a charge of possession and failing to comply with probation.
