The 19-year-old male driver from Barrie was arrested at the scene and has been charged with dangerous operation causing death and failure to stop after an accident causing death. He was held for a bail hearing and was released from custody on Saturday.
"Due to a court-imposed publication ban, the identity of the driver cannot be released," added police.
