Police in Midland believe two deaths, hours apart, were drug-related

Police believe two deaths reported in the span of four hours in Midland are connected to the use of illicit drugs.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP say a 25-year-old woman and 38-year-old man died within hours of each other on December 9, and while investigators believe there is a strong possibility both deaths are related to drug use, the investigation continues.

Police are reminding everyone that the misuse and abuse of controlled substances is very dangerous and is often deadly. If you suspect someone is overdosing or is in need of medical attention, immediately call 9-1-1 and stay with the victim. While those who call the emergency line may fear legal fallout, the OPP reminds everyone of the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act, which provides protection against being charged with drug possession.
