Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire Service was called to a Centre St. apartment building around 8:00 Tuesday night, with reports of a ground floor fire. Police say two men rushed to help douse the flames while first responders were enroute. Investigators have already spoken with one, now they’d like to pat the back of the other. He is described as black, in his 40s, wearing an orange construction vest and driving a pickup truck.

” The brave action of these men is being credited with preventing the fire from becoming much larger.” reads a South Simcoe Police media statement.

A 72-year-old woman was pulled from the building and rushed to hospital in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries at a Toronto trauma centre.
