Police pursuit in Muskoka results in numerous charges
OPP say motorist struck several cruisers
A long list of charges for a 27-year-old Brampton man following a police pursuit in Muskoka.
OPP say officers were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 11 southbound in Huntsville just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday when they attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver did not pull over and continued travelling on Highway 11 into Bracebridge and exited onto Taylor Road.
Police say cruisers were parked in such a way as to stop the vehicle, but during the maneuver, the driver struck the cars in an attempt to flee. Officers were able to get control of the motorist, and he was taken into custody.
During a search of the vehicle, police say they located a taser, along with break-in tools.
The suspect is facing numerous criminal and highway traffic act offences including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault police with a weapon, resist arrest, operation while impaired, instrument for use in copying credit cards, driving while under suspension, driving without a licence and additional charges.
The accused remains in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Wednesday for a bail hearing.
