Police seeking driver of pickup after women followed through downtown Barrie

Man allegedly followed women for a few blocks Wednesday evening

The Barrie Police Service is probing a suspicious incident involving two women and an unknown man.

At around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, two women were walking in the area of Dunlop Street and the Five Points, when they say they spotted a man in a black pickup truck watching them. The pair continued on, but say the truck drove by them slowly, stopped and waited for them to pass, before driving past them again.

As the women reached a construction zone at Dunlop and High Streets, they turned left and continued towards Bradford Street. The driver of the pickup is said to have maneuvered around the construction zone and parked in their path. It was at this point police say the man got out of his vehicle and began yelling at the two women. It is unknown what he said. The driver jumped back into his truck after the two women ran to a nearby coffee shop. He was last seen heading westbound on Vespra Street.

The pickup driver is described as:

  • Male
  • White
  • In his 40’s to 50
  • Average build
  • Wearing glasses
  • Clean-shaven
  • Light brown hair with a buzz cut
  • Light blue or grey t-shirt.

The vehicle in question is described as a black Dodge RAM pickup truck.
