Police probing Power Up Gaming smash-and-grab

Merchandise and cash taken from south-end store

The Barrie Police Service is investigating after a break-in and theft from a popular south-end gaming retailer.

Officers were called to Power Up Gaming on Mapleview Drive near Essa Road at around 6:30 a.m. Friday with reports of a break-in. Investigators believe the break-in occurred at around 2:45 a.m. Friday, and are in the process of reviewing surveillance images.

While police confirm several items and a quantity of currency was stolen during the B&E, a full inventory was said to be underway to determine exactly what was stolen. A police spokesperson indicates this was a targeted theft, and that no other break-and-enters were reported in the area.
