Public Health Ontario reports largest single-day jump as COVID-19 case count surpasses 9,500

93 lives were lost

Public Health Ontario is reporting 55 more people have been lost to COVID-19 in the province.

This brings the total number of people the disease has claimed to 478 people. the province says another 564 lab-confirmed tests have come in, bringing the provincial caseload to 9,525. Thus far, 4,556 people have recovered, an increase of 362.

The province reports 8,899 tests were run yesterday.

A previous version of this story indicated the number of people deceased due to COVID-19 increased by 93, which represents the toll taken from Wednesday to Friday and not Thursday to Friday.
