The Barrie Police Service is seeking the public's help identifying a suspect in an armed robbery at a variety store in the east end.
On Tuesday, just before 11:00 p.m., police responded to a robbery report in a plaza at Duckworth Street and Grove Street East.
Officers say a male, who was in the store just before it closed, approached the counter with two edged weapons and demanded cash. The clerk complied with the request and the suspect fled north on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
According to officers, a canine track was conducted after a perimeter was established but the suspect was able to elude capture.
The suspect is described as white, around 20-28 years of age, 6'1" tall with a slim build, and long or medium-length brown hair showing out the front of his hat. He was wearing an off-white mask on his face, a grey beanie style hat that was covered by a black hoody pulled up over his head underneath a red and black plaid jacket, white well-worn Nike running shoes with what appear to be pink coloured laces, and black pants.
If you recognize the suspect - were in the area and may have dash camera video or may have witnessed a male running from the plaza - contact police at 705-725-7025, extension 2129.
