Santa and his helpers will still be available for photos this holiday season.
Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket has been hard at work, creating a way for families to get pictures with the man in red while keeping everyone safe with the creation of the “Holly Jolly sleigh.”
The sleigh is built in two pieces, which are each six feet in length. Guests sit in the front part while Santa sits in a second piece elevated one foot above the front with a non-reflective sheet of plexiglass. The height difference creates the perspective in the photo that Santa and his guests are closer together than they are.
Meetings with Kris Kringle are by reservation to minimize traffic around the display.
Masks are mandatory in the photos for guests ages 2+, so remember to wear your favourite one.
Other safety measures include daily temperature checks and mandatory masks for employees (including Santa!), floor markers to ensure social distancing at all times, disinfection of the sleigh, and touchpoints after each visit.
You can book your appointment with St Nick through Upper Canada’s online-booking system.
