Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit reporting no new COVID cases, second day in a row

Toronto, Peel Region continue to report double-digit daily caseload additions

While Public Health Ontario continues to report lower daily COVID-19 caseload additions, it appears the bulk of the province’s infections continue to come from the GTA.

Health officials confirmed 118 new cases of COVID-19 in its Wednesday update; of those, 50 were reported by Toronto Public Health, and 27 from that of Peel Region. The third highest addition came from York Region Public Health which is reporting 13 new cases.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) reported no new cases on Wednesday. In fact, the total caseload went down by one, after it was found a previously reported case in Tiny Township did not meet the definition of a COVID-19 case.

The SMDHU is in good company; Of the province’s 34 health units, 18 had no new cases to report.

Public Health Ontario also reported 202 recoveries and nine lives lost. It says there were over 22,000 tests run in a day to get these results, with over 17,000 waiting in backlog.
