While the province’s online portal is still weeks away, those eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in Simcoe-Muskoka will be able to book online as of Monday. There will be thirteen locations to choose from by then.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) confirmed on Thursday it will be launching its online booking system as of March 1, allowing those residents who are currently eligible for the vaccine to book a shot at any of the 13 community clinics opening up next week.
Currently our COVID-19 vaccination clinics are by appointment ONLY and for ELIGIBLE priority groups ONLY. Information about who is eligible and how you can book is available here: https://t.co/9fdk1jOGbE pic.twitter.com/fhstidRJ1R— SMDHU (@SMDhealthunit) February 25, 2021
Those adults 85 years of age or up, Indigenous adults 55 years of age or older and their adult household members, adults receiving chronic home care, and high-priority frontline healthcare workers are eligible for the shot from the SMDHU.
Bookings can be made through the SMDHU website as of Monday morning. For those without access to a computer or internet access, appointments can be booked by calling the health unit at 1-877-721-7520. Proof of eligibility is required and anyone who books appointments and is not eligible will be turned away. All clinics are by appointment only and none accept walk-ins.

“It is critical to the health of our residents that we move forward with our clinics providing immunization first to those who need it the most based on their risk of severe disease or on their likelihood of exposure to it as health care workers,” said Dr. Charles Gardner, the medical officer of health for SMDHU. “The opening of our clinics is just the beginning. Over the months to come, we will work through priority populations to provide vaccination to all adults who want it.”
