Sir Rod Stewart Charged With Assault

Police report alleges singer and son were denied entry to a private New Year's Eve bash

Sir Rod Stewart and his son have been charged with “simple battery” after allegedly roughing up a security guard when they were denied entry to a New Year’s Eve bash in Florida.

According to the police report, Stewart and his son Sean were with friends when they were prevented from gaining access to the private event.

Sean allegedly pushed the security guard, and the report adds that Stewart punched the guard in the chest “with a closed fist,” though the report also says the singer threw a punch striking the guard in the left ribcage.

Stewart and his 38 year old son were both charged with simple battery.

The security guard at the Breakers Palm Beach Hotel told police that a group of people tried to enter the event without permission and that the group “began to get loud and cause a scene,” and refused to leave.

The police report says the 74 year old Stewart did apologize for his role in the incident.

Stewart and his son have a court date in Florida on February 5th.
