South Simcoe Police say 96 grams of purple heroin was seized during an arrest Friday, a deadly mix of fentanyl and heroin making its way into the drug trade.

“It is troubling to see a seizure of this magnitude and the deadly combination of the drugs seized during this arrest.” said South Simcoe Police Service Chief Andrew Fletcher. “Thankfully, with this seizure, we potentially removed hundreds of fatal doses from the streets and the eliminated the devastating impact it has on families throughout our communities”

The Barrie Police Service issued a similar warning of purple heroin in October, suspecting it may be behind a recent overdose death.
