South Simcoe Police taser suspect following robbery at Alcona pharmacy on Sunday

Police say the suspect was armed with a knife

A 26-year-old Innisfil man was arrested shortly after an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Alcona.

South Simcoe Police were called to the drug store on Innisfil Beach Road shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday. Officers were told a man armed with a knife robbed the pharmacy of a quantity of drugs and then fled on foot. No one was injured.

Several citizens assisted police in locating the suspect. Police say he refused to comply with demands to drop the knife and a stun gun was deployed. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The man is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, disguise with intent and weapons dangerous.
