Car thieves went on a weekend tear through Innisfil and Bradford.
South Simcoe Police say four vehicles were stolen, while a fifth was thwarted by the use of a Faraday Box for storing keys.
The spree began Friday when a 2022 Ford F150, with Ontario plate BA178244, was swiped from Sloan Circle in Innisfil.
A 2022 Dodge Durango was reported stolen from Tigertail Cres in Bradford West Gwillimbury. It was found crashed into a ditch off Hwy 9 in York Region.
On Saturday, a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder, with Ontario plate CSVY 826, was from the commuter lot at Highways 88 and 400.
And a 2013 Honda Civic, license plate DARS 840, was reported stolen from an address on the 5th Sideroad of Innisfil.
A resident on Waterton Way in Bradford was lucky. When thieves tried to capture the signal relay from the keys of his vehicle, they were thwarted by the owner's use of a Faraday Box to store the keys. This blocked the signal given off by the keys, and the would-be thieves left in a black sedan.
Anyone with information regarding the recent thefts or suspicious activities in the area is urged to contact authorities immediately.
