On December 18, Springwater Council officially approved an $89 million budget for 2025.
The Township’s budget was approved with a 5.78% Township tax increase over 2024 rates. When combined with the County of Simcoe’s approved tax increase of 3.625% and no change to the education rate, residents can expect to see a 4.06% blended tax increase on their 2025 property tax bill.
For a typical single-family home in Springwater assessed at $497,000, the approved blended rate amounts to $179.44 over 2024 levels or $14.95 per month.
For every residential tax dollar collected:
- $0.51 is retained by the Township of Springwater;
- $0.33 is retained by the County of Simcoe; and
- $0.16 goes towards Education.
The 2025 Budget is comprised of $27.7 million in tax supported operating expenses, $33.8 million in carry forward capital projects and $21.4 million in new capital expenses, $3.4 million in water operation and $3 million in wastewater operations.
The 2025 Water and Wastewater budget have been approved with a 4.00% rate increase and a 10% wastewater increase. For the average household consuming 180 cubic metres annually, the rate increases equate to a water bill increase of $23.32 and a wastewater bill increase of $104.54 in 2025.
The 2025 Capital Budget includes $23 million for road infrastructure, including $10.7 million for the construction of Craig Road. Additionally, residents can expect to see infrastructure improvements throughout the Township and will receive the same or improved levels of service with respect to fire and emergency services, winter road maintenance, planning, building services, recreation and municipal law enforcement.
