Springwater Township declared Significant Weather Event, as snowplow operators keep at it

Declaration means Township is waiving minimum maintenance standards

The Township of Springwater has declared a Significant Weather Event.

Due to the severe blowing snow and reduced visibility brought about by recent winter weather, the Township has made the declaration as it relates to Ontario’ Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways. The Township has minimum maintenance standards under which it is supposed to have all roadways cleared of snow, while this declaration means those standards are suspended as plows work to keep up. The declaration also allows plow operators to work longer shifts.

As dangerous snow squalls are expected to continue through the night, visibility is expected to be significantly reduced throughout Springwater and beyond.
