Barrie police make arrest following north end crash involving stolen vehicle

K9 track meant for heavy police presence along Cundles near Bayfield

A suspect has been charged following a crash in north Barrie involving a stolen vehicle.

Barrie Police say two vehicles collided near Bayfield St. and Cundles Rd. at around 5 a.m. Thursday morning, but by the time officers arrived on scene, one of the drivers had fled on foot. Police then discovered the vehicle they left behind was stolen.

A heavy police presence along Cundles between Bayfield and Sunnidale Rd. was noted Thursday morning, as officers performed a K9 track of a suspect. While the suspect was not immediately located as a result of the track, a police spokesperson tells Barrie 360 an arrest was made late Thursday morning.

A 32-year-old man from Clarksburg faces charges including driving while impaired by drugs and possession of stolen property. Police say he also faces a number of Highway Traffic Act infractions.
