Suspect charged after woman allegedly assaulted in Huntsville

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a man after they responded to Yonge Street in Huntsville on March 17 about a disturbance involving a group of males possibly using force to confine a female.

Police say a man allegedly assaulted a woman and then threatened further harm if the person alerted authorities about what was occurring.

The suspect was arrested for assault and was found to be carrying drugs.

The woman did not require medical treatment.

A 25-year-old from Huntsville was charged with assault, possession of drugs, intimidation, and uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm.

The accused has a court date April 29.

Police advise this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
