Teenager praised for turning over a bag of cash she found to police in Milton.
The money belonged to a local business
A 17-year-old Milton girl is being showered with praise by Halton Regional Police for doing the right thing.
The teen was out walking when she found a package on the ground Saturday night.
They say when she discovered the bag contained several bank envelopes stuffed with thousands of dollars in cash, she went directly to the police station to hand it over.
Police say the envelopes were from a local business and were mistakenly dropped by an employee.
The money has been returned to the rightful owner.
Police said, “it is acts of honesty and civic duty like this that replenishes faith in the good-hearted nature of the majority of youth in our community.”
The name of the teen and the business were not released.
