Caught in drug deal gone bad

October 9, 2018A ten-year sentence – minus time served – for James Garthwaite in the 2017 manslaughter death of Dana Camber of Barrie. She was shot in the doorway of her Kozlov Street apartment. Court heard she was caught in the middle of drug deal gone bad.

She and Garthwaite did not know each other.

Two others pleaded guilty in June to Accessory After The Fact. Both were sentenced to time served and two years probation.

April 5, 2017 –  Three men have been charged in the murder of Dana Camber. Barrie Police say a 26-year-old man from Innisfil was arrested Monday, while a 26-year-old from Barrie and a 22-year-old Toronto man were arrested Wednesday. All three face a charge of First Degree Murder.

March 16, 2017The Barrie Police Service confirms today 50-year-old Dana Camber died of a single gunshot wound to her abdomen, following a shooting on Kozlov St. early Tuesday. Police are still looking for her killer.

March 15, 2017 – An autopsy will be performed today on the body of a woman found dead early Tuesday at 101 Kozlov Street in Barrie. Police found the woman, wounded and unresponsive, after responding to a 911 call about shots fired at the building. No arrests have been made, but police say they have reason to believe the victim and her assailant knew each other. March 14, 2017Shots were fired early this morning at 101 Kozlov Street in Barrie’s north end. Barrie Police received a 911 call just after 2:30 am. Upon arrival, they found a 50-year-old woman wounded and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at hospital. Her name has not been released. No arrests have been made.
