Summer camp isn’t just a place to make amazing memories and meet new people. It also helps kids and youth learn the importance of healthy living, environmental awareness and independence. And it helps develop self-confidence, emotional intelligence and leadership.
But camp isn’t easily accessible to all children, especially those from underserved communities and low-income homes.
That’s why, every year, Tim Hortons hosts Camp Day at locations across North America. This event helps raise money for the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, which sends youth to Tims Camps.
Tims Camps offer multi-year programs for youth 12 to 16 years old and run year round in the community, at schools and at 7 different campgrounds.
These camps empower youth to believe in their own potential by equipping campers with important skills that will open doors to their future and help them overcome the challenges they may face.
Graham Oliver, a Tim Hortons restaurant owner and President of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps explains, “Many of the young people we support have never had the opportunity to experience camp or travel outside their city or town. Our multi-day, overnight camp experiences are uniquely powerful in quickly building critical skills in youth, and strengthening social ties and community connections that can help youth better cope with challenging circumstances.”
How To Support Camp Day 2022
In the past 30 years, Camp Day has raised over $225 million and helped support over 300,000 youth.
This year, when you buy a hot or cold coffee from Tim Hortons on July 13, 100% of the proceeds will help send youth to Tims Camps. This includes Tim Hortons Take 12, which comes with 12 small coffees, cups, dairy and sweeteners.
Tims guests are also able to purchase merchandise to help raise even more for the program. This includes red and white camp-themed socks for $5 and Camp Day bracelets for $2. This year’s bracelets come in four vibrant colours, each labeled with key values that camp helps develop in youth:
- Courage
- Resilience
- Leadership
- Confidence
If you're visiting a Tims restaurant, you can tap to donate $2 or round up your order in store or on the app. You can also make an online donation at any time on the Tims Camps website.
