Jane Philpott has resigned from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet, saying “There can be a cost to acting on one’s principles, but there is a bigger cost to abandoning them.”

The Treasury Board President is stepping down over the Trudeau Government’s handling of the SNC-Lavalin scandal.

The Trudeau Government is under fire over its handling of the SNC-Lavalin affair; the PMO is accused of getting involved after the Quebec-based company was charged with bribery. Former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould testified last week that the Prime Minister himself interfered.
