Trespassing charges against two people who refused to leave a store on Saturday that was at capacity

OPP remind the public that businesses can limit the number of customers for public health reasons

Two people who were told by an employee that an Elmvale store was at capacity and they would have to leave were charged with trespassing for refusing to do so.

Huronia West OPP were called to the store Saturday afternoon.

Police said staff explained the company’s policy and the pair were asked to leave for the time being.

That didn’t go over well.

OPP said the two became confrontational to the point where things escalated enough that an employee contacted police for assistance.

Police remind the public that businesses have the right to set their own policies to limit the number of customers for public health reasons.
