Trudeau Campaign to Visit Orillia and Barrie Friday

His first visit to Orillia this campaign; second time in Barrie

Liberal leader Justin Trudeau will be in downtown Orillia Friday. Representatives for Simcoe North candidate Gerry Hawes confirm Trudeau’s campaign is stopping at the well-known Mariposa Market at 1:30 pm. They say pre-registration is required to attend. There will not be any media availability.

Trudeau is there to support Hawes, who is hoping to unseat incumbent MP Bruce Stanton. The Conservative MP is chasing a fifth term against Gerry Hawes (Liberal), the Green Party’s Valerie Powell, Angelique Belcourt of the NDP’s, as well as Chris Brown of the Christian Heritage Party and Stephen Makk of the People’s Party of Canada.

Campaign officials for Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte Liberal candidate Brian Kalliecharan say Trudeau will also make a stop at ie Wood Fired Pizza Joint, on Victoria Street in Barrie, at 3:30 pm Friday. Kalliecharan is battling Conservative hopeful Doug Shipley, NDP candidate Dan Janssen, the Green Party’s Marty Lancaster and David Patterson of the People’s Party of Canada.

The riding was previously held by Conservative Alex Nuttall, who chose not to seek re-election. He won the riding by a slim 86-vote margin in 2015.
