Two in hospital following pair of crashes Friday afternoon

Motorcyclist and elderly pedestrian being treated at hospital

Two collisions barely an hour apart have put two in hospital.

First responders were called to County Road 10 near 20 Sideroad in Essa Township shortly after 2:30 Friday afternoon with reports of a single-vehicle collision. Emergency crews arrived to find a motorcyclist had crashed. The woman was rushed to local hospital and airlifted from there to Toronto with what police describe as life-altering injuries.

Shorlty after 3:30, emergency crews responded to reports a pedestrian was struck on C.W. Leach Road near MacKenzie Pioneer Road in New Tecumseth. An elderly woman was struck by a sedan, according to the OPP, and was rushed to hospital.

The investigation into the cause of both these crashes continues.
