Two serious collisions in four days involving motorcycles in Muskoka

Bracebridge OPP emphasize motorcycle safety

Bracebridge OPP is sounding the alarm and urging drivers to use extra care following two collisions involving motorcycles in the past few days.

Provincial police were called to a home late Saturday afternoon in Kilworthy after a person riding a motorcycle on private property was involved in a collision. The 29 year old was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Then on Monday, police said one of two motorcycles travelling together lost control in Gravenhurst and crashed .The 32 year old rider was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

OPP said motorcyclists are more vulnerable at this time of year as many roads have loose and and gravel. They said operators should always wear an approved helmet and high quality protective gear. Police also remind motorists that motorcycles are smaller and more difficult to see and gauge their speed and therefore other motorists must be extra vigilant when turning or changing lanes.
