Uber has announced that it will require drivers and riders to wear masks when using the service in certain countries. They are also developing new tech to ensure drivers are wearing them.
Uber has already begun shipping disinfectant and masks to its drivers but re-iterates that health care workers take priority so drivers may need to source their own masks. The new tech would require drivers to prove they are wearing a mask before they could accept a fare. The company is also looking into ways to hold riders accountable as well.
Uber has urged everyone to stay home and continue social distancing but has taken steps in the right direction to provide safety procedures for essential trips and workers.
