Barrie Police Confirm Candidate Facing Extortion Charge

Barrie Police confirm Ward 5 candidate Harry Ahmed has been charged by a multi-agency biker gang unit.

The Biker Enforcement Unit arrested the 41-year-old suspect Friday morning, and charged him with Extortion.

The BEU is made up of 18 police services including the RCMP, OPP, and local police, and is designed to combat the rise of biker gangs in the province.

Ahmed is among four other candidates running for the Ward 5 seat, along with Brandon Cassidy, Robert Thomson, and current Councillor Peter Silveira.
